1 ద్రాక్షారసము వెక్కిరింతల పాలుచేయును
మద్యము అల్లరి పుట్టించును
దాని వశమైనవారందరు జ్ఞానములేనివారు.
Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.

2 రాజువలని భయము సింహగర్జనవంటిది
రాజునకు క్రోధము పుట్టించువారు తమకు ప్రాణ మోసము తెచ్చుకొందురు
The fear of a king is as the roaring of a lion: whoso provoketh him to anger sinneth against his own soul.

3 కలహమునకు దూరముగా నుండుట నరులకు ఘనత
మూర్ఖుడైన ప్రతివాడును పోరునే కోరును.
It is an honour for a man to cease from strife: but every fool will be meddling.

4 విత్తులు వేయు కాలమున సోమరి దున్నడు
కోతకాలమున పంటనుగూర్చి వాడు విచారించు నప్పుడు వానికేమియు లేకపోవును.
The sluggard will not plow by reason of the cold; therefore shall he beg in harvest, and have nothing.

5 నరుని హృదయములోని ఆలోచన లోతు నీళ్లవంటిది
వివేకముగలవాడు దానిని పైకి చేదుకొనును.
Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water; but a man of understanding will draw it out.

6 దయ చూపువానిని కలిసికొనుట అనేకులకు తటస్థించును
నమ్ముకొనదగినవాడు ఎవరికి కనబడును?
Most men will proclaim every one his own goodness: but a faithful man who can find?

7 యథార్థవర్తనుడగు నీతిమంతుని పిల్లలు
వాని తదనంతరము ధన్యులగుదురు.
The just man walketh in his integrity: his children are blessed after him.

8 న్యాయసింహాసనాసీనుడైన రాజు
తన కన్నులతో చెడుతనమంతయు చెదరగొట్టును.
A king that sitteth in the throne of judgment scattereth away all evil with his eyes.

9 నా హృదయమును శుద్ధపరచుకొని యున్నాను
పాపము పోగొట్టుకొని పవిత్రుడనైతిననుకొనదగిన వాడెవడు?
Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin?

10 వేరువేరు తూనికె రాళ్లు వేరువేరు కుంచములు
ఈ రెండును యెహోవాకు హేయములు.
Divers weights, and divers measures, both of them are alike abomination to the LORD.

11 బాలుడు సహితము తన నడవడి శుద్ధమైనదో కాదో
యథార్థమైనదో కాదో తన చేష్టలవలన తెలియజేయును.
Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work be pure, and whether it be right.

12 వినగల చెవి చూడగల కన్ను
ఈ రెండును యెహోవా కలుగచేసినవే.
The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the LORD hath made even both of them.

13 లేమికి భయపడి నిద్రయందు ఆసక్తి విడువుము
నీవు మేల్కొనియుండినయెడల ఆహారము తిని తృప్తి పొందుదువు.
Love not sleep, lest thou come to poverty; open thine eyes, and thou shalt be satisfied with bread.

14 కొనువాడుజబ్బుది జబ్బుది అనును
అవతలికి వెళ్లి దాని మెచ్చుకొనును.
It is naught, it is naught, saith the buyer: but when he is gone his way, then he boasteth.

15 బంగారును విస్తారమైన ముత్యములును కలవు.
తెలివి నుచ్చరించు పెదవులు అమూల్యమైన సొత్తు.
There is gold, and a multitude of rubies: but the lips of knowledge are a precious jewel.

16 అన్యునికొరకు పూటబడినవాని వస్త్రమును పుచ్చుకొనుము
పరులకొరకు వానినే కుదువపెట్టించుము
Take his garment that is surety for a stranger: and take a pledge of him for a strange woman.

17 మోసము చేసి తెచ్చుకొన్న ఆహారము మనుష్యులకు బహు ఇంపుగా ఉండును
పిమ్మట వాని నోరు మంటితో నింపబడును.
Bread of deceit is sweet to a man; but afterwards his mouth shall be filled with gravel.

18 ఉద్దేశములు ఆలోచనచేత స్థిరపరచబడును
వివేకముగల నాయకుడవై యుద్ధము చేయుము.
Every purpose is established by counsel: and with good advice make war.

19 కొండెగాడై తిరుగులాడువాడు పరుల గుట్టు బయటపెట్టును
కావున వదరుబోతుల జోలికి పోకుము.
He that goeth about as a talebearer revealeth secrets: therefore meddle not with him that flattereth with his lips.

20 తన తండ్రినైనను తల్లినైనను దూషించువాని దీపము కారుచీకటిలో ఆరిపోవును.
Whoso curseth his father or his mother, his lamp shall be put out in obscure darkness.

21 మొదట బహు త్వరితముగా దొరికిన స్వాస్థ్యము
తుదకు దీవెన నొందకపోవును.
An inheritance may be gotten hastily at the beginning; but the end thereof shall not be blessed.

22 కీడుకు ప్రతికీడు చేసెదననుకొనవద్దు
యెహోవాకొరకు కనిపెట్టుకొనుము ఆయన నిన్ను రక్షించును.
Say not thou, I will recompense evil; but wait on the LORD, and he shall save thee.

23 వేరువేరు తూనికె రాళ్లు యెహోవాకు హేయములు
దొంగత్రాసు అనుకూలము కాదు.
Divers weights are an abomination unto the LORD; and a false balance is not good.

24 ఒకని నడతలు యెహోవా వశము
తనకు సంభవింపబోవునది యొకడెట్లు తెలిసికొన గలడు?
Man's goings are of the LORD; how can a man then understand his own way?

25 వివేచింపక ప్రతిష్ఠితమని చెప్పుటయు
 మ్రొక్కుకొనిన తరువాత దానిగూర్చి విచారించుటయు ఒకనికి ఉరియగును.
It is a snare to the man who devoureth that which is holy, and after vows to make enquiry.

26 జ్ఞానముగల రాజు భక్తిహీనులను చెదరగొట్టును
వారిమీద చక్రము దొర్లించును.
A wise king scattereth the wicked, and bringeth the wheel over them.

27 నరుని ఆత్మ యెహోవా పెట్టిన దీపము
అది అంతరంగములన్నియు శోధించును.
The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly.

28 కృపాసత్యములు రాజును కాపాడును
కృపవలన అతడు తన సింహాసనమును స్థిరపరచు కొనును.
Mercy and truth preserve the king: and his throne is upholden by mercy.

29 యవనస్థుల బలము వారికి అలంకారము
తలనెరపు వృద్ధులకు సౌందర్యము
The glory of young men is their strength: and the beauty of old men is the grey head.

30 గాయములు చేయు దెబ్బలు
అంతరంగములలో చొచ్చి చెడుతనమును తొలగించును.
The blueness of a wound cleanseth away evil: so do stripes the inward parts of the belly.
